The Royal Palace
This was Amsterdam's town hall when it was originally built in 1655. However Napoleon transformed it into a king's palace for his brother Louis I of Holland in 1806. Now it is the Royal Palace for the House of Orange and when it's not open for public tours it's used for royal ceremonies and hosting visiting dignitaries. The center of the building with Atlas holding the heavens is called the citizen's hall and is covered in statues, ceiling murals, chandeliers, and carvings on the floor. Around the citizen's hall are rooms for different sectors of governance from secretary to justice and includes rooms for orphans and mistresses. The building is full of marble carvings and thick wooden accents and is held up with more than 13,000 wood piles. On the front of the building there's a bell tower that tolls every 15 minutes and the carving includes unicorns with golden horns. It's an amazing work of art and engineering.
